PI Weather Sensor: All of your racing weather station/sensor needs wrapped up into one unit. Ships complete with necessary wiring, hardware, and pre-programmed per ECU CAN-Bus Protocol.
Our CAN Bus Sensors either are, or will be compatibility most major ECU manufactures. Currently, Firmware is available for Holley™, FuelTech™ (FT700 Only), Haltech™, MoTec™, MaxxECU™ , Emtron™. This unit is also compatible with programmable Power Distribution Modules (PDM's) as well. (Ex: Hardwire Electronics Complete PDM Product Line)
Weather Sensor - CAN Bus
Plimpton Innovations is proudly the number one provider of on-board Weather Sensors, designed specifically for motorsports applications. We are now proud to offer our Weather Sensor Technology, which leverages extensively tested updated PRO SERIES - GEN II Sensor platform. This device uses CAN Bus communication - a simple 4 wire solution capable of supporting 8 to 12 (ECU Dependent) Weather data outputs from ONE Sensor!
If you have ever battled performance changes between days, tracks, or even from event schedule changes, this is just the sensor to integrate for maximizing consistency and performance. Eliminate all worry or dependency of cell phone reception to look up weather; your weather needs will now always be with you.
Wiring to integrate into most aftermarket ECU's is straight forward and once set up; data may be logged, displaying on the dash, AND OR closed loop tuning changes. (We provide the data - the rest is up to YOU!)
These ENGINEERING units are software locked and only software modifiable by Plimpton Innovations, LLC.
PRO SERIES - GEN II
From years of feedback gathered we've re-designed our sensor technology to host a suite of upgrades and updates with features to make the installers and users life easier! (Multi-Color Status LED to communicate sensor's current state, reduced power consumption, self-healing if sensor detects CAN Bus wiring fault, increased voltage input range, protections, and much more.)
All of this so you can worry less and race more. This series contains an even more powerful MCU which collects data from onboard sensors, performs all the math necessary to compute the data you want, and provides you with clean and useful data.
Product contains some internationally sourced components; designed, assembled, and programmed in the USA!
Power Supply
- Voltage Supply: 5.2V-30V
- Nominal Quiescent Current: < 10 mA (proper wiring)
- Reverse Polarity Protection (accidental power and ground swap)
- Transient Voltage Protection (Dirty supply voltage line)
- ESD Protection: HBM 8000 Volts
Communication Protocol:
- CAN 2.0B: (Modern CAN-Bus)
- ECU Compliant: Various Bauds, ID's, and Data Packets per ECU
Status LED's : Multicolor LED with different blink patterns to indicate if faults and/or wiring errors are detected.
Integrated Intelligent Fault Detection: while the device is performing measurements and performing calculations, it is also checking for anomalies to ensure validity of data. If "faults" arise, the device either:
- (1) takes corrective action on its' own and if successful recovery, the continues functioning seamlessly
- (2) uses the Status LED to inform the user if intervention is required
High Precision Sensing
- Small Footprint
Lightweight and Robust:
- While most plastics absorb moisture (which may skew measurements) our enclosures are molded in the USA, from a Custom Mold Tool, out of the high-end engineered plastic that is commonly used for high-end fuel injectors to bring you the highest quality and robustness.
- Metal 10x32 threaded inserts for mounting dependability
Preliminary Design Features (subject to change/update as we finalize this listing.)
